On 2012-01-04, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a revised recall regarding Harper Trucks Hand Trucks due to a potential injury hazard. This product sold new beginning in January 1993 for about $28 to $42. It was originally recalled on 2011-10-27.

What is the problem?

When the tires are overinflated, they can explode causing the wheel hub to separate or break, ejecting pieces of the hub. This poses an injury hazard to bystanders.

How can I tell if I own this product?

This recall involves Harper Trucks hand trucks with model numbers and type of wheels listed below. "Harper Truck" and the model number can be found on an adhesive sticker on the hand truck frame's cross member. Hand trucks with two-piece, grey metal wheels are not included in this recall.

Update 01/04/2008: The CPSC revised this announcement. The period during which this product was sold at Home Depot was expanded (previously listed as Sept '08 - Mar '09) and United States & China were removed from the list of manufacturing countries.

These items were sold new⁺ at The Home Depot from January 2008 through November 2009 and Sam's Club from January 1993 through January 2002 for between $28 and $42.
